Rose Bonnet

A Nice story comes to us frm The Royal Hobart Hospital, a nurse described how she was in charge of the fever ward one night. One of her patients was an Irish Seaman, who was dangerously ill, very close to death.

At one stage during the night she noticed the seaman had a visitor, she thought it quite odd that a visitor be allowed in at such a late hour of the night but as she began to watch the touching scene before her it was hard not to allow the sick seaman his visitor.

The nurse described seeing a little old lady dressed in black except for a single red rose within her bonnet. The nurse saw all of this quite clearly as the seaman was completely bathed in moonlight from a window situated above, she also recalls the visitor crying silver tears, as they appeared in the moonlight as she held the seaman's hand. As the nurse watched she was very surprised to see the visitor simply fade away.

Against all odds the seaman recovered and went on to explain to staff that when he was ill he had dreamed that his mother had visited him and described her black clothing and the single red rose in her bonnet.
