Alkimos Updates - The Blue Lights Those familiar with the local legend of the Alkimos would know of the ‘blue lights’ that have long been associated with the ship. Barry Sue devoted a chapter to these strange lights in his fantastic book “Ghost of the Alkimos” he also relayed this interesting tale to me when we were discussing the ship. 2 fishing buddies gained permission from their respective wives and took off together on a much anticipated weekend away of fishing, fishing and more fishing. They decided to beach fish and have a weekend down at Yanchep and set themselves up very close the the Alkimos. They baited up, set their rods in the sand, opened a beer and settled back to have a relaxing weekend away from it all. The fishing went well and they were back it, that evening under a full moon and a carpet full of stars. At one stage one of the men got a big bite that snapped his line and took his rig, the fishermen finding himself out of something that the rig needed said to his friend that he would go back to the car where he was sure he had more of whatever it was he needed.. He wandered off, while his friend was away the other man continued his fishing but was intrigued when he saw a blue light mysteriously appear to the left off the Alkimos, it seemed to float past the Alkimos and kept going until it was 500 metres the other side. The blue ball then quickly descended into the ocean, the water then lit up brightly from underneath startling the man so much that when his friend came back he told him they were leaving, the two then spent the night camping in Yanchep National Park, all thoughts of fishing abandoned! |
