Did this photo capture a ghost looking out of the window of the historic Greenhills Inn?
One of the best things about Haunted Australia is the people I get to meet. A while ago I was contacted by Brad and Abbey, Brad told me he had a photo he wanted to show me. I said great and invited them round, they turned out to be terrific people and we had a great afternoon, during the course of the afternoon Brad and Abbey showed me their photo and related the following story about it’s source. Abbey’s family lives in Quarading and they were on the way to the farm for a family gathering and as it happened to be lunchtime decided to pull off at Greenhills Tavern – York – a place they had never been before.
The Greenhill Hotel is beautiful and is probably a turn of the Century building, Brad saw a good photo opportunity outside the hotel, aussie flag, aussie ute, in front of the aussie hotel so told Abbey to go stand by the Ute, he took the picture and did the only other aussie thing left....go inside the pub for a beer! They got talking to the landlord and complimented him on the hotel, they discovered that the landlord had in fact only had ownership of the hotel for 9 weeks. Brad asked if the old place was haunted, the landlord said they had not seen or felt anything but the previous landlords had told them that there there is supposed to be a ghost that hangs around the landing, so they went for a walk around checked out the landing, took some more photos, didn’t see anything and left. Later at the gathering on the farm that night, Brad was looking through the digital camera and noticed something in the first picture he took of Abbey standing in front of the Ute out the front of the hotel, as with most digital camera's he was able to zoom in on the picture, he trimmed and zoomed twice and saw the face, he showed it to various people on the farm who all confirmed they could also see something strange that appeared to be a face?
The next day on the way home they decided to go back to hotel and show the new landlord. The Landlord thought the picture was great and asked for a copy of it, saying that was where they were currently sleeping and that the previous landlords had said that something frequently opened that door on the second floor to seemingly go out into the verandah. Brad asked if they could go up to the room and have a look to check for prints or pictures that may have mistakenly reflected an image, there were no such prints or mirrors that may have showed a reflection, there was also no one present on the verandah at the time the picture was taken. The ghostly figure on the verandah appears to be a woman, upon closer inspection of the face I found another figure standing behind her in the background, Brad believes the woman appears to be an aboriginal spirit/woman, perhaps a maid, or domestic worker who used to work or reside at the premises?
