I have been living in my current house for about eight years in Melbourne and had decided to pull down the old garage to make room for a larger one. Nothing much ever happened in the new garage except for me getting into my hobbies and projects. Around a year ago some very odd thing started happening in there which I could not explain. Strange experience 1 On so many occasions when I walked into the garage I found that the wall clock with a pendulum had stopped. I just got it going again without too much thought. It happened so often that I one day noticed when I set the time it looked like it had stopped working just as I had walked in to the door. I found after that that this happened time after time in the future that the clock stopped every time I had walked in to the garage. Strange experience 2 Also one night when I was in there the fluoro lights on the ceiling just decided to turn off. The strangest thing was that they made no flickering sound when they went off and came on again. It only happened once and lasted about two or three seconds. I thought nothing of this at the time. None of the other lights or radio were affected while this happened. Strange experience 3 Some time later, could have been days or weeks, I can't remember but I was using my angle grinder and it also decided to stop working but all of the lights and power stayed on along with all the other appliances. I started thinking of the fluoro incident after this happened. Anyway life goes on I thought. Strange experience 4 Days or weeks later I was sitting in my garage once again relaxing and I heard a sound like a metallic object falling to the ground. I did a little searching and eventually found my old zippo lighter lying on the ground. The strange thing was that it had fallen a long way from where it was meant to be sitting. The shelves were very dusty where it sat and the place where the lighter sat was clearly marked with a clean spot where no dust had settled underneath. So it ended up that the lighter had travelled about one metre from it's original spot and the shelf that it was sitting on was only 60 cm off the ground. The lighter was not near the edge of the shelf ready to fall off and the distance just didn't correspond with it just having fallen straight down with the odd bounce before it stopped. The strangest thing was that it was not windy on this night and it was very quiet in the garage also which just made this whole experience a whole lot spookier. After the lighter experience I am now convinced that there must have been a visitor in the garage on these different occasions That I did not see. There were only one lot of previous owners that lived in this house that was built in the 60s and I do know that the husband had died while tha family lived here before us. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened lately though. The house does have a good feel to it though. Steven Polanski |
